We provide a unique two-to-three-year program for young people in Years 10 to 12 designed to progressively develop employability skills and achieve individualised learning goals while meeting the requirements of the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) and the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).

Our aim is to seamlessly blend senior education and vocational training to engage young people in purposeful learning experiences that are relevant to the real world of industry.

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic visionary Principal with a demonstrated passion for education and strong commitment to an innovative industry-driven education model that connects the world of education with the world of work to lead our RedlandsSchool and the opening of our new purpose built campus in 2026.

This high impact leadership role ensures the strategic delivery of The Industry Schools sector-leading industry-driven educational experience for students employees industry partners and wider community upholding the Schools Purpose Core Values Educational Philosophy and Goals within the Industry Education Foundations of the School.

Reporting to the Director of Education and broader Executive Leadership Team the Principal joins other Industry School Principals and senior leaders on the Senior Leadership Team to optimise operations and resources and achieve performance indicators that raise student achievement and embed a quality education framework.

A contemporary values-driven leader with a clear vision for the future you utilise evidence-informed leadership and pedagogical practices to inspire and lift teaching and learning quality nurturing positive relationships between students teachers industry and stakeholders and building a thriving school community.

  • Leadership and operational decisions are ethical comply with legislation industrial awards policies and procedures meet student needs and ensure smooth day-to-day operations that support The Industry Schools vision and purpose.
  • Lead a culture of innovation and change that ensures the vision and strategic plan are actioned and Annual KPIs are met.
  • Utilise a range of data management methodologies to optimise resources and employees ensuring efficient cost-effective management and the provision of an effective and safe learning environment.
  • Create a positive culture of challenge and support enabling effective teaching that promotes enthusiastic independent learners committed to lifelong learning.
  • Develop a culture of effective teaching by leading designing and managing the quality of teaching and learning to support students achievement in all aspects of their development.
  • High expectations are set for the whole school through careful collaborative planning monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of learning.
  • Inclusion is embraced and a culture of high expectations is built that takes account of the richness and diversity of the wider Industry School and local community.
  • Develop a culture of philanthropy and local community partnerships.
  • Network with community groups professional organisations industry bodies and associations to provide opportunities for connection with industry and learning.

Skills And Experiences

About You

To be successful in this role you will bring the following skills and experience:

Essential

  • QCT registration or eligibility for registration
  • High level of education leadership and financial acumen with demonstrated understanding of business process development and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Extensive understanding of the AASN Program School-Based Apprenticeships and VET sector including current trends and change factors impacting the education and apprenticeship sector.
  • Demonstrated ability at a senior level to define lead and proactively drive effective process change.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external) and work collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical skills and the ability to use those to influence the educational agenda of the AITC and Industry-driven education.
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and Valid driver licence.
  • Ability to champion The Industry School values.
  • Right to work in Australia

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in management business or a related field.
  • Post graduate qualifications in Education or Education Leadership.
  • Informed knowledge and experience in Australian vocational education and apprenticeship sectors.
