Job Summary

Senior Executive Ledger NTU Shared Service Finance

This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy completeness and timeliness of financial transactions and reporting. The incumbent will handle journal reclassifications intra-company transactions and month-end closing activities ensuring compliance with the Universitys financial policies procedures and relevant accounting standards. The role involves close collaboration with Schools Departments and Centres to resolve accounting-related queries facilitate intra-company settlements and reconciliations and support financial reporting requirements. The incumbent will also contribute to process improvement initiatives system enhancements and automation efforts aimed at strengthening the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations across the University.

Job Responsibilities:

Service Delivery

A. Journal Reclassification and Intra-Company Transactions

  • Process journal reclassification and intra-company transactions based on requests submitted via ServiceNow.

  • Review and verify requests for accuracy and completeness; follow up on discrepancies or missing information.

  • Liaise with requestors to resolve posting errors or fund insufficiency issues.

  • Coordinate with system support teams on RPA and other system/technical matters.

  • Facilitate monthly intra-company fund settlements and transfers.

  • Perform reconciliation of intra-company clearing accounts to ensure timely clearance.

  • Execute GST-related reclassifications and prepare monthly GST reports for accurate reporting.

  • Provide guidance and support to requestors on journal entry submissions.

  • Ensure all transactions comply with University accounting policies and procedures.

B. Monthly Financial Schedules and Analysis

  • Prepare monthly Balance Sheet schedules and ageing analysis.

  • Maintain and update the Balance Sheet GL balance master list including variance commentaries for management review.

  • Monitor and follow up with stakeholders on long-outstanding balances to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

  • Perform Profit and Loss variance analysis and highlight key observations to management.

C. Month-End and Year-End Closing Activities

  • Handle IFRS 16-related valuations periodic postings and lease contract tracking.

  • Perform foreign currency revaluation.

  • Execute SAP financial year-end balance carry-forward processes.

  • Prepare year-end audit schedules and notes for inclusion in the Financial Statements.

  • Prepare Related Party Transactions (Sales & Purchases).

D. Process Improvement and Ad Hoc Support

  • Assist in maintaining and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Knowledge Articles in ServiceNow.

  • Identify opportunities for process automation and system enhancements to improve efficiency.

  • Support UAT and implementation of system changes or automation projects (e.g. RPA).

  • Attend to finance-related queries from Schools Departments and Centres.

  • Support internal and external audit requirements including retrieval of supporting documents and clarification of queries.

  • Participate in continuous improvement and finance-related projects.

Requirements:

  • Recognised Degree or Diploma in Accountancy or equivalent with at least 34 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance operations.

  • Experience in General Ledger functions account reconciliations and financial closing activities preferred.

  • Prior experience working in a Finance Shared Services environment will be an advantage.

  • Familiarity with SAP Financial systems and/or SAP Ariba is highly desirable.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel Word and PowerPoint.

  • A strong team player with a positive work attitude initiative and sense of responsibility.

  • Able to work independently and perform under pressure to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
