Job Title: Material Handler
Job Summary:
The material handler in a manufacturing setting is responsible for efficiently moving storing and tracking materials within the facility ensuring a smooth production flow. They are involved in receiving storing picking and distributing materials and products often using equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks. Their duties also include maintaining inventory records ensuring material availability and adhering to safety guidelines.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Understand Production Traveler WI-80
- Understand Customer Order Preparation WI-30A
- Understand Steel Receiving WI-71
- Understand Tooling Receiving Inspection WI-76
- Understand WI-22 and the Verification Process
- Understands the principle of Lot control and maintaining container tags
- Check incoming freight for damage & pack list quantities prior to signing bill (notify scheduler if damage or discrepancy is found and take pictures of damage)
- Understands the safe operation of the dock plates and the use of wheel chocks when loading a truck
- Perform the operation of the shrink wrapper and verify proper destination label before removing it from wrapper
- Knows location of scrap hoppers and types of metal
- Understand the handling of rejected Material
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Remove finished goods from the press areas as work is completed relocate it to shipping assembly verification or hold area.
- Utilize scanner to determine placement of finished goods.
- Set up Hilo with tools needed for the day
- Complete daily log book (check sheet)
- Collect scan gun and swap out battery
- Collect walkie talkie
- Check gas tank and guesstimate how long it will last
- Respond to pages for assistance from Pressroom area
- Empty scrap hoppers throughout the shift
- Scrap hopper (general) for banding etc is emptied at beginning of day
- Bring prep dies to presses as needed
- Provide containers (skids w/boxes hoppers metal bin (small medium large) pallet boxes (small large) Thai summit totes gray plastic totes depending upon what job number is being done.
- Monitor set up sheet on all computers (in PLEX) to indicate what kind of containers are needed what type/kind of steel is needed and where steel is required
- Utilize PLEX to check and verify inventory of raw material packaging materials and totes
- Create check lists for Auto Maintenance with issues
- Navigate Plex to determine tool location within the die racks (some have 2 numbers)

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum one year on a hi-lo
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Hours: 1st shift 7am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday with some mandatory Saturdays. OT available
Wages and Compensation:Based upon experience.
