The Department of Social Work at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position (#168090) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. As an R2 university MTSU values teaching research and service. The start date for the position is August 1 2026.
The successful candidate will be highly engaged in research and community service and pursue interdisciplinary collaboration with potential for external funding and contracts. A terminal degree (PhD DSW or equivalent) in social work AND a Master of Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program are required by the appointment date.
An equivalent of two (2) years of post-masters social work practice paid or volunteer experience is required. The post-masters social work practice experience must be clearly identified in the curriculum vitae and may include practice with athletes in settings supporting sport social work practice or with individuals families groups or communities. Applicants should include specific dates (month and year) and indicate full-time or part-time on the curriculum vitae to verify that the required work experience has been obtained.
Licensed or license-eligible at the Master of Social Work level is required by the appointment date.
