Department Overview
The Spiritual Care department supports the spiritual religious and cultural well-being of patients families and staff. Professional chaplains provide equitable access to spiritual support ensure respect for care recipients diverse beliefs practices and traditions and facilitate faith community support when needed.

Position Summary

  • Assess spiritual religious and cultural strengths resources and hopes of children families and staff.
  • Support care recipients experiencing crisis trauma and end-of-life.
  • Provide interventions to reduce spiritual distress and promote well-being.
  • Facilitate ritual and devotional practices inclusive of diverse identities values beliefs and traditions.
  • Coordinate support from care recipients faith communities and leaders.
  • Primary location: St. Paul campus


  • A graduate degree in theology philosophy or psychology awarded by a CHEA accredited institution or equivalent study recognized by ones faith tradition that includes history of a religious tradition spiritual practices/practical ministry sacred texts and world religions.
  • Minimum of four units of clinical pastoral education (CPE).
  • Documentation of current endorsement and/or ordination or letter of good standing in accordance with the requirements of ones own faith tradition within the last 12 months
  • One-year hospital experience preferably with children.
  • Pediatric mental health spiritual care experience preferred.
  • Adherence to APC Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Professional Chaplains
  • Board Certified Chaplain (APC NACC NAJCCASC) preferred.

    The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. When determining individual pay rates we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role the skills education training credentials and experience of the candidate internal equity and organizational needs.

    In addition to your salary this position may be eligible for medical dental vision retirement and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
