BASIC POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Child Care Aides: (Full- or Part-Time positions working 37.5 hours per week (FT) or 25 hours per week (PT))
- Full-Time hours of work: Variable daytime schedule 37.5 hours per week Full benefits package
- Part-Time hours of work: Mon. - Fri. 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. OR 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Limited benefits package
- High school diploma or the equivalent; CDA preschool certificate or 90 hours certification
- One year of experience in an approved childcare setting is preferred
- Excellent human relations verbal and written communications skills; ability to work with small children
- Ability to complete at least six clock hours of continuing education per year
Child Care Teachers: (Full-Time positions working 37.5 hours per week)- Hours of work: Variable daytime schedule 37.5 hours per week Full benefits package
- Associate degree in early childhood education child development or related field or 30 hours of approved coursework; bachelors degree preferred
- Two years of supervised experience working with preschoolers in an approved setting
- Excellent human relations verbal and written communication preschool teaching and activity development skills; ability to work with small children; and demonstrated communication skills for childcare professionals
- Ability to complete at least 12 clock hours of continuing education per year
Pre-K Instructional Assistants (Part-Time positions working 25 hours per week; 10-months per year)- Hours of work: Mon. - Fri. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 25 hours per week No benefits
- Associate degree in early childhood education child development or a related field or a valid CDA credential
- Two years of experience working with 3-4 year olds in a pre-K setting
- Excellent organizational self-starter human relations and verbal and written communication skills; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers students parents and associates and to use classroom and instructional equipment
- Ability to complete at least 15 clock hours of continuing education per year
Pre-K Teachers Assistants (Full-Time positions working 37.5 hours per week; 10-months per year)- Hours of work: Variable daytime schedule Follows the Wicomico County Public Schools calendar Full benefits
- Associate degree in early childhood education child development or a related field or a valid CDA credential
- Two years of experience working with 3-4 year olds in a pre-K setting
- Excellent organizational self-starter human relations and verbal and written communication skills; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers students parents and associates and to use classroom and instructional equipment
- Ability to complete at least 15 clock hours of continuing education per year
Pre-K Teachers(Full-Time positions working 37.5 hours per week; 10-months per year)- Hours of work: Variable daytime schedule Follows the Wicomico County Public Schools calendar Full benefits
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field; bachelors degree in education and current State of Maryland teaching certification preferred
- Two years of pre-K teaching experience
- Excellent organizational verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated leadership skills necessary to work effectively with students parents and administrators
- Ability to complete at least 15 clock hours of continuing education per year
Substitutes (Aides and Teachers)- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Substitute teachers must have at least 90 clock hours in Child Growth and Development 9 clock hours of communication coursework and proof of college credits.
- Substitutes will be vetted and then called to fill-in as needed
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS- Must be at least 18 years old
- Clear criminal and child protective services background checks and pre-employment medical report
- Approval from the Maryland Department of Education Office of Child Care
- Current first aid and infant and child CPR certification (or the ability to obtain immediately after hire)
- Basic health and safety ADA and/or medication training (if applicable) must be completed within 90 days of hire
