Laser Welding Operator/Welder
Employment Type: Regular Full-time Non-exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
Growing Southern California manufacturer of Pressure Vessels Environmental Control Units (ECUs) and Mobile Power Generators for tactical military systems seeks an experienced Operator/Welder for a full-time position in Valencia. Will be required to read blueprints in order to properly weld with different materials in order to complete projects.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and calibrate the IPG laser welding machine for each job.
- Load and configure appropriate programs and materials into the machine.
- Ensure the correct tooling and assemblies are in place based on product specifications.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints technical drawings to determine welding specifications and sequences.
- Operate the laser welder to join parts together
- Assemble and weld aerospace products
- Recognize welding problems troubleshoot and correct them accordingly
- Perform in-process and final dimensional inspection using tools to verify that critical dimensions and tolerances are met
- Perform visual inspections to identify like cracks pits or spatter
- Ensure all finished products meet required quality standards i.e. AS9100
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on laser equipment
- Troubleshoot minor technical issues or alarms with the equipment and take corrective action when necessary.
- Adhere to all safety protocols which are paramount due to the high-power lasers and wearing the proper PPE.
- Following established SOPs and maintaining a clean dust-free work environment to protect the sensitivelaser optics.
NONSPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 2 years of experience in laser welding
- IPG laser experience a plus
- Minimum 3 years of experience in tig welding
- Familiar with aerospace welding class A
- Shall be required to weld .03 -.25 aluminum sheet/bar
- Certification under D17.1 D1.2 or ASME IX is a plus
- Must have welding experience with aluminum stainless steel 4130
- Produce x-ray quality welds
- Well test will be required
- Must be able to pass J1 eye exam
- Must be organized proactive and possess a committed work ethic
- Capable of safely handling large heavy parts up to 50 lbs.
- Assist in cutting prepping hydro-testing and other duties as necessary
- Follow welding procedures and specifications
- Assist advise and share job knowledge with other welders
- Must achieve internal certifications under given alloys
- Provide your own basic tools and welding equipment.

- Welding helmet
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
The Operator/Welder reports directly to the Welding Supervisor. This position is expected to work with and coordinate with the Manufacturing Quality and Engineering departments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Bend stoop and squat occasionally
- constant use and motion of arms hands and fingers
