Position Summary
The LSUHSC -NO Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a Manager of Sponsored Research and Development to oversee the development management and compliance of the Departments research enterprise and staff. Primary responsibilities include working with PIs in identifying grant opportunities working with appropriate Grant Specialists researchers clinicians and administrators to identify develop coordinate and submit grant applications provide grant management oversight including grant reporting to funding agencies and section heads contracting and subawards and ensure compliance with required grant reporting and administration by federal state and local entities. The Manager of Sponsored Research and Development will work closely with the Office of Research Services Clinical Trials Office and Sponsored Projects Accounting to ensure that awards are properly reconciled to developed budgets disbursement are in accordance with award stipulations and reports are submitted timely to the Department of Medicine Leadership and appropriate Section teams. Incumbent will also work closely with the Internal Medicines Business Manager to manage and audit the accounting and finance functions of the departments federal institutional and private grants including accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles internal controls assistance with annual audited financial statements and accurate and timely government filings. Excellent interpersonal skills are required to interact with researchers clinicians and upper & lower administrative team members. Knowledge of OMB Circular A-21 principles fund management and creating complex budgets particularly with National Institute of Health agencies and subaward mechanisms is essential. Experience working with federal granting agencies and CROs is highly preferred.
