Job Summary

Reports To: Coordinatorfor Special Education Assessment and Compliance

Duty Days: 187 Days

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Pay Grade: I00

Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in education or related field required

Valid Texas Teacher Certification in Special Education preferred

Three years successful classroom experience preferred

Ability to work with school and community population

Knowledge of special education law policies procedures ARD procedures and best practices related to the implementation of special education services required

Proficiency in a variety of computer software programs required including the special education management system

Excellent oral and written communication organizational and interpersonal skills

Primary Purpose:

Coordinate plan and facilitate ARD meetings along with the campus administrator. Ensure compliance with state mandated timelines and leadership to special education and general education teachers in the district.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and schedule ARD meetings in a timely manner. Communicate dates and times to parents and staff.
  2. Prepare and maintain ARD meeting calendar for assigned campus and notify all appropriate staff and attendees of changes/cancellations of meetings.
  3. Meet all timelines within TEA guidelines for annual meetings and communicate with evaluation staff regarding required evaluations.
  4. Monitor and assist campus staff in completing ARD documents.
  5. Facilitate and participate in all ARD meetings and staffings on assigned campus except for REED meetings and meetings assigned by district personnel.
  6. Verify accuracy of PEIMS reports transportation forms ESY forms SDRs and any other assigned special education data collection materials.
  7. Coordinate with Diagnosticians LSSPs and SLPs to ensure all required notices have been sent evaluation requests have been sent and received and meetings are scheduled timely to review assessments.
  8. Ensure that all federal and state requirements are met when conducting ARD meetings.
  9. Prepare paperwork for all ARD meetings and staffings on assigned campus.
  10. Compile maintain and file all reports records required rosters and other documents in a timely and accurate manner.
  11. Comply with all district and local campus routines and procedures.
  12. Participate in required professional development and meetings and follow all year end procedures related to job assignment.
  13. Effectively communicate with supervisors colleagues students and parents as well as maintain positive and effective relationships.
  14. Assist the department chair with making sure progress reports are archived in the electronic Special Education student information system.
  15. Serve as a resource to principals in the implementation of special education services.
  16. Remain current in state and federal rules and regulations for Special Education.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Equipment Used:

Personal computer printer phone system projector DVD recording devices adaptive equipment.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing sitting for long periods stopping bendingkneeling pushing and pulling. Ability to move small stacks of textbooks audit folders media equipment desksand other classroom or adaptive equipment. Moderate lifting and carrying. Daily travel around the district.
