Job Summary

This farm is a dairy farm located in a rural community in North County Cork Ireland. It is within an hours drive and connected by train to the vibrant cities of Cork and Limerick. The farm is run by husband and wife who work on the farm along with a full-time farm worker milking on average 200 cows year-round.

The tasks carried out on the farm are wide and varied from animal handling (including milking cows feeding new born calves etc.) to tractor work (feeding cattle using a diet feeder bedding cattle using a straw chopper etc) depending on the qualifications and desired learning outcomes of the students.

It is desirable that students have experience with some of the above tasks although not necessary. It is important the students come with a strong willingness to learn and are willing to get stuck in. It is also preferable if students have a good level of English but this is not strictly necessary. John and Ursula are looking for students eager to learn have a good work ethic and are open minded. Accommodation is in the family home and meals are also provided while the students are with us. There is availability for two to three students on the farm at any one time.
