MetaPhase is seeking a Technical Architect / CDN Manager to lead the architectural strategy design and optimization of content delivery networks (CDNs) and front-end performance for a large federal website modernization program. This cloud-hosted high-availability solution supports millions of public users and integrates with numerous external systems. The Architect will lead technical solutioning DevOps implementation and CDN configuration for rapid secure and scalable content delivery.
What You Will Be Doing:
  • Architect and lead end-to-end CDN solutions using technologies such as Akamai Cloudflare or AWS CloudFront.
  • Design and implement high-performing scalable and secure technical architectures in a cloud-native environment (AWS preferred).
  • Provide technical leadership across front-end middleware and platform teams to align infrastructure and content delivery strategy.
  • Integrate modern DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines to support automation deployments and monitoring of CDN services.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to ensure FedRAMP-aligned CDN and caching configurations.
  • Develop architecture documentation technical diagrams ATO artifacts and change control documentation.
  • Guide teams on best practices for DNS caching edge logic performance tuning and DDoS protection.
  • Analyze and optimize traffic routing Core Web Vitals and performance metrics using tools like WebPageTest Lighthouse and CDN logs.

What We Need From You (Required):

  • 7 years of technical architecture experience in large-scale web application environments.
  • 3 years of CDN management experience including Akamai Cloudflare AWS CloudFront or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of HTTP caching edge server configuration DNS SSL/TLS and web security principles.
  • Expertise in cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred) including VPCs IAM Route53 and S3 static hosting.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform CloudFormation or similar).
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps containerized deployments and monitoring tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce architectural artifacts and lead solutioning activities.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and comfort interfacing with federal stakeholders.
  • U.S. Citizenship (NO EXCEPTIONS). Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.

Bonus Points (Desired):

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent professional cloud certification
  • Experience with Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 performance impacts at the edge
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity controls for CDN configuration and mitigation of OWASP top 10
  • Prior experience supporting a federal website modernization initiative
  • Hands-on with GraphQL APIs or JAMstack front-end architectures

  • Hybrid - Based in Washington DC. Occasional travel may be required.
Clearance & Education:
  • Must be able to obtain Public Trust
  • Bachelors degree in Information Systems IT Management or related field
