Support the Districts Office of General Counsel in this rewarding role. Attorneys may perform simple to complex professional legal and administrative work principally advising internal staff and representing the District under supervision of the Deputy General opportunity offers an ability to make an impact on the organization and provides flexibility and a true work-life balance. Compensation:

Attorney 1: $61254.00 - $71459.00
Attorney 2: $71460.00 - $75000.00

Thestartingsalary ranges are included for theAttorney 1 profile which reflects theminimum to approximately 22% of the respective pay grade and the Attorney 2 profile which reflects the minimum to approximately 6.6% of the respective pay grade. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.

Essential Functions

  • Provides legal counsel to management and staff on matters relating to the day-to-day operations of the District.
  • Represents the District in litigation and other proceedings before federal state and administrative judicial tribunals.
  • Assists in the enforcement of state law District rules and other regulatory or non-regulatory authorizations.
  • Prepares and reviews legal instruments such as licenses leases easements or purchase and sale contracts.
  • Provides legal advice and written opinions to various District divisions on applicable law and related matters.
  • Makes presentations before the Governing Board District staff and the general public when necessary.
  • Participates in District emergency management activities other departmental activities departmental projects and performs other duties as required.

Working Conditions

The position works out of the Tampa office with occasional travel to other service activity is primarily sedentary and includes the performance of continuous repetitive tasks (including typing) with one or both hands. The position may require carrying and lifting objects up to 10 pounds as well as bending and reaching above shoulder level. May be required to operate an automobile for 2 hours or more at a time. Some travel may be required which may take place during evenings or accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Employee may be subject to call-in outside of regularly scheduled work hours or required to be on call including on nights weekends or holidays to respond to emergency management activities or other incidents requiring rapid response in support of District operations.

Required Credentials for Attorney

Attorney 1

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Florida Bar License
  • Valid drivers license

Attorney 2

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Two (2) years experience as a practicing attorney
  • Florida Bar License
  • Valid drivers license

    Additional Details

    This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week Monday to Friday out of the Tampa FL office however remote work may be available. This position is eligible for compensatory time for hours worked over 40 hours in a week.
