Bilingual Preferred English & Spanish

This position prefers not required bilingual language skills in English & Spanish to assist with a need in the communities that we serve. If you are bilingual you will be tested for your speaking and writing bilingual language skills in English and Spanish. There is a 5% Bilingual Language differential.

Summary of Duties

  • Empower families to achieve lasting independenceby providing person-centered strength-based coaching that recognizes each familys unique goals values and capacities. Partner closely with ODHS programs community agencies and local service providers to ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities for self-sufficiency.

  • Engage families through comprehensive assessments and collaborative goal settingto identify strengths barriers and support systems. Work with adults to create actionable plans that align with their vision for stability and success supporting their journey toward reducing or ending reliance on public assistance.

  • Collaborate with adults to develop individualized coaching and employment plansusing a continuum of JOBS activities. These plans emphasize meaningful participation skill-building education and work experiences that enhance employability and overall family well-being.

  • Evaluate employability readiness and connect participants to sustainable opportunitiesby identifying transferable skills facilitating access to job training and work experience and making targeted referrals to community partners. Use motivational interviewing techniques to inspire confidence and persistence in achieving employment goals.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment services contractors and community resourcesto effectively tailor referrals and supports for families with varying levels of employment readinessincluding those re-entering the workforce individuals with limited experience or those with criminal justice involvement.

  • Support individuals experiencing domestic violence through crisis intervention and safety planning ensuring immediate access to resources emergency funding and ongoing support. Determine program eligibility issue grant payments when appropriate and collaborate with advocacy and community partners to promote safety stability and empowerment.

Minimum Qualifications

A valid drivers license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.

  • A bachelors degree in a Behavioral Science Social Science or a closely related field;

OR

  • A bachelors degree in any field AND one year of human services related experience (i.e. work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged employment abuse and neglect substance abuse aging disabilities prevention health cultural competencies inadequate housing);

OR

  • An associate degree in a Behavioral Science Social Science or a closely related field AND two years of human services related experience (i.e. work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged employment abuse and neglect substance abuse aging disabilities prevention health cultural competencies inadequate housing);

OR

  • Three years of human services related experience (i.e. work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged employment abuse and neglect substance abuse aging disabilities prevention health cultural competencies inadequate housing).

  • Experience with being flexible and adaptable to changedemonstrating resilience and a solutions-focused approach in support of continuous improvement and positive outcomes for those we serve.

Maintain healthy boundaries and utilize available wellness and support resources to prevent compassion fatigue and secondary trauma.

  • Demonstrate consistent attendance reliability and follow-through as Oregon families depend on your timely communication decision-making and advocacy. Effective coordination accurate documentation and responsiveness are essential to maintaining trust and continuity of care.

  • Perform work in a variety of settings including ODHS offices participants homes and community locations such as partner agencies schools and job sites. Travel may be required and state vehicles are provided for community-based work to facilitate direct engagement and service delivery.
