About Us
The Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services (PSES) has significant oversight and involvement in the public security and emergency services through its various divisions and operations. The department is responsible for the administration of law enforcement correctional services policing and police oversight and public safety. The Ministry supports crime prevention and restorative justice programs as well as programs and services to support victims of crime including those affected by domestic violence and human trafficking. The Ministry also coordinates large scale emergency and disaster prevention mitigation preparedness response and recovery programs and initiatives.
For further information visit the ministry website at: branch within the Correctional Services Division oversees and supports the administration of custody operations including program and litigation support pre and post induction training oversight of therapeutic living units and the capital and operational planning for ten (8 adult and 2 youth) correctional facilities throughout the province involving approximately 3500 offenders on any given day and 2000 staff.
As a respected leader your proven leadership and relationship management skills position you to take on significant human resources responsibilities and equip you to effectively navigate employee relations matters within a complex union environment. Your agility proactive planning and service-orientation will also empower you to champion cultural change as we move forward with progressive correctional service initiatives.
Qualifications
This challenging role demands a credible leader with extensive related senior management experience preferably in a correctional facilities environment. The ability to coordinate care and service delivery for a diverse vulnerable population combined with requirements for security and safety of staff individuals in custody and government infrastructure is critical for success in this position. Your background demonstrates success in negotiation and managing human resources and labour relations and a record of working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
Relying on your systems approach your capacity to manage high profile issues and your strengths in policy development contract administration and fiscal management will support you in delivering on your mandate. Your commitment to service excellence and reputation as a leader who empowers and nurtures the potential of large diverse teams will set the course for organizational renewal. Knowledge of the criminal justice system and a related degree are preferred.
Salary
$5234.94 - $6879.68 bi-weekly ($136632 - $179560 annually)
Notes
The Executive Director will ideally be based out of Edmonton. The Ministry is open to exploring outside of the Edmonton area (within Alberta) for the right candidate.
