MetaPhase is seeking an experienced Cloud / Technical Architect to lead technical strategy solution design and modernization efforts in support of complex government cloud environments. This role is responsible for designing secure scalable and cost-effective cloud architectureson AWS Azure or hybrid platformsand driving migrations and implementations that support mission-critical systems and applications.
What You Will Be Doing:
  • Architect cloud-native and hybrid infrastructure solutions to meet mission performance availability and cost goals.
  • Lead cloud migrations and modernization projects from on-premises environments to AWS or Azure.
  • Design for high availability disaster recovery fault tolerance and zero trust architectures and open architecture standards.
  • Recommend and implement best-fit services (IaaS PaaS SaaS) based on workload needs and federal compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure FedRAMP FISMA and agency-specific standards are met.
  • Develop architectural artifacts including system designs technical diagrams and implementation roadmaps.
  • Integrate Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines to automate deployments configuration and monitoring.
  • Guide technical teams on best practices for cloud governance access control and tagging strategies.
  • Serve as a cloud subject matter expert to advise government stakeholders and internal teams on innovation opportunities and optimization.

What We Need From You (Required):

  • 8 years of experience in cloud implementation architecture and operations.
  • At least 5 years of experience supporting government IT cloud environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS Azure or both with a solid understanding of VPCs IAM storage networking and automation.
  • Experience leading cloud migration or modernization projects.
  • Ability to balance performance security and cost across multi-tier architectures.
  • Experience designing and implementing disaster recovery and continuity strategies.
  • Strong understanding of federal compliance and cloud security frameworks (e.g. FedRAMP FISMA NIST 800-53).
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to develop executive briefings and technical documentation.
  • Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Information Technology or a related field.
  • U.S. Citizenship (NO EXCEPTIONS). Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Bonus Points (Desired):

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments and secure cloud interconnectivity.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform CloudFormation Bicep).
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines and containerized deployments (e.g. Docker Kubernetes).
  • Experience working with federal cloud enclaves or environments under continuous monitoring.
  • Experience working within DHS TSA or USCIS

Work Setup & Travel:

  • Hybrid - Based in Springfield VA. Occasional travel may be required.
Clearance & Education:
  • Must be able to obtain Public Trust
  • Bachelors degree in Information Systems IT Management or related field
