Afterschool Behavioral Assistant Job PostingRural Arts Collaborative is seeking a dynamic and passionate Behavioral Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist students well-being through ongoing enrichment support and empowerment-led behavioral interventions that build emotional resiliency. They will work collaboratively with the behavior coordinator to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for all students attending the WonderKids afterschool arts and cultural SummaryThe behavioral assistant will work closely with the behavior and enrichment coordinators to support our participants as they engage in our enrichment activities. The candidate will help to ensure the emotional well-being of students in grades K-8 in Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union who attend WonderKids programming. This individual will support students with a range of needs and abilities while maintaining a positive behavioral approach that embraces each students uniqueness and ability to thrive. The candidate will present themselves as a strong role model for children and adolescents and demonstrate management and supervision of students in accordance with WonderKids philosophies and mission. This is a part-time in-person position averaging up to 12 hours per week for the duration of the 2025-2026 school year. All employment is decided based on qualifications merit and business Behavior Support: Provide behavioral support through therapeutic communication and strength-based strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of students. The proper candidate will embrace the following trauma-informed best practices: co-regulation connection empathy acceptance congruence naming emotions presence and -Regulation: Maintain awareness of ones affect posture body language and complexity and tone of Support: This includes supporting childrens general engagement with the program helping the children understand activities being kind to their peers and managing themselves within an enrichment activity. Communication: Will maintain ongoing communication with the coordinators to ensure transparency and consistency and to track student progress. Collaboration: Communicate with all staff to ensure behavior and safety plans are being implemented correctly to the benefit of the students. This includes attention to students abilities treatment needs and behavior plans in accordance with direction from the Behavioral -site program support assisting Enrichment Coordinator and helping the students engage in the programsProvide behavioral support through therapeutic communication and strength-based strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of students Strive at all times to foster a positive approach to behavioral managementWorking with the Behavioral Coordinator to implement appropriate supportsParticipant supervision and general safetyProblem-solve and support during crisesCommunicate enrichment observations to the Administrative Coordinator Communicate behavioral data and interventions to the Behavioral Coordinator QualificationsEducation: Preferable Bachelors degree or relevant experience in the field of education or behavioral health. Experience: Relevant experience working with children mental health and/or individuals with behavioral : Clear and concise communication skillsStrong leadership skillsA patient and kind demeanor Able to receive and follow instructionsA good self-starterPunctualityReliable transportationAttention to detailKnowledge: Familiarity with afterschool programs community resources and educational initiatives. Understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to youth development and enrichment. Knowledge of alternative schools such as Waldorf and Montessori and an understanding of the benefits of these approaches. Familiarity with Hardwick Greensboro Craftsbury and surrounding towns is a : A proactive resourceful and collaborative approach to problem-solving. Passion for supporting the growth and development of young people. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Job RequirementsIt is the policy of Rural Arts Collaborative that all employees working with children comply with Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union background checks and fingerprinting requirements before the beginning of their scheduled activity. This position is a DCF Mandated must be able to: Lift program totes up to 30 lbsMust be able to perform extensive standing and walking for 3 hours at a timeCarry heavier loads up to 50 lbs longer distances (from a classroom or storage area to a car in the parking lot or outto the athletic fields)Must be able to set up pop up tents folding tables and move folding chairs and other outdoor classroom equipmentMust be able to bend stoop and reach materialsMust be able to play with children outdoors hike and remain physically active for 3 hours at a time in all weather conditionsFrom time to time this position requires interacting outdoors with kids in all weather conditions: winter in temperatures down to zero degrees Fahrenheit; in snow that may be knee deep; in spring when the ground is wet and biting insects are emerging; in summer when the weather is hot and humid; and in rainy conditions when the weather is not dangerous. Dressing appropriately for the weather and to be able to complete the job in all weather conditions is a requirement of this position. This job requires working on-site with co-workers; it is not a remote position.
