Job Summary
The Bresnahan School is a grade PK-3 elementary school located in Newburyport Massachusetts. We are looking for an energetic and experienced Adjustment Counselor to join our teaching Adjustment Counselor will provide proactive developmentally appropriate support to students in kindergarten through grade 3 who exhibit behavioral social or emotional challenges that interfere with learning or school adjustment. The Adjustment Counselor will work collaboratively with classroom teachers counselors administrators and families to promote positive behavior increase student engagement and build self-regulation and conflict-resolution Student Support:Provide individualized and small-group behavioral and teach self-regulation coping and problem-solving strategies using evidence-based social-emotional curricula .Use restorative practices to address conflict and repair relationships between students behavioral goals and collect progress data for review (when applicable).Classroom and Teacher Collaboration:Collaborate and co-teach with teachers to design and implement classroom management strategies and individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs).Provide coaching and modeling for teachers on positive behavior supports reinforcement systems and de-escalation and Community Engagement:Partner with families to build consistency between home and school behavior in parent meetings and re-entry conferences as families with community or district resources for behavioral or mental health Collection and Reporting:Maintain accurate records of student interventions progress and behavior data (e.g. office discipline referrals suspension data classroom incidents) to identify trends and inform prevention to schoolwide climate initiatives and the School Improvement Plan regarding behavioral supports and reduction of classroom behavioral as per contract negotiated between the NTA and the Newburyport School CommitteeRange from $55148-$103873Equal Opportunity EmployerNewburyport Public Schools does not discriminate in its programs activities or employment practices based on race color national origin age religion gender gender identity sexual orientation or disability.
