Job Summary

Major Responsibilities
- Under general supervision of the Chiefs of Recreation with latitude for independent initiative and judgment perform responsible work in the supervision planning implementation coordination monitoring and/or evaluation of programs for Queens Recreation.
- Serve as the field supervisor for Queens Recreation field houses including overseeing inspections evaluating repair needs and taking appropriate action to maintain facilities.
- Plan implement coordinate monitor and evaluate programs such as Swim for Life Parks afterschool Summer Sports Experience Kids in Motion and camps conducted by Queens Recreation. Enter associated data in Xplor in coordination with borough office directives.
- Coordinate and lead community events such as family days field days school events and health fairs.
- Serve as a community liaison reporting on program development program performance program planning and program funding needs.
- Assist with borough trainings (e.g. camp Kids in Motion afterschool) by providing technical assistance and training to subordinate staff in techniques of program implementation and management.
- Foster close cooperation with local agencies elected officials community boards and other institutions.
- Perform special assignments as directed by the Chief of Queens Recreation.

Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
