Senior Software Engineer

Visa is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will help build Open VisaNet Visas Next generation payment processing platform developed on Open Systems that would fuel growth in electronic payments globally and drive financial inclusion in many parts of the world.

Open VisaNet is the Next Generation VisaNet is a highly scalable secure cost effective and distributed application on commodity hardware using best-in-class technology components. Open VisaNet is one of Visas Key initiative that helps Visa support in-country processing solutions and provides Visa an opportunity to move away from Proprietary Mainframe type systems. It is built as a modern distributed architecture based on micro services with goals of five 9s availability fault tolerance horizontal scalability and real time latency for largest scale transaction processing. Open VisaNet leverages state of the art Open Software technologies to achieve these goals on commodity hardware such as Go  Apache Kafka Cassandra Docker Kubernetes etc. and involves collaboration with exceptional group of software engineers systems performance engineers security specialists DevOps engineers payment experts infrastructure and solution architects.

Responsibilities include

• Writing efficient scalable and fault tolerant code for online and batch processing.

• Participate in design discussions and implementation of highly scalable and fault-tolerant distributed components using functional programming paradigm APIs abstractions and integration patterns to solve challenging distributed computing problems.

• Collaborate with product and architecture teams and create low level design and lead(technical) development efforts while contributing to the development of new initiatives. Around 1/4th of the development effort will be around bug fixes in QA and Production.

• Develop test scripts test conditions input test data and expected results for one or more test plans in a development cycle by analyzing the Functional Specifications and Business Requirements.

• Reporting potential risks during all any stages of development lifecycle.

• Work and resolve any issues that arise out of the testing process(application or performance).

• Work across the team to ensure the team is predictable productive and delivering high quality.

• Ensuring adherence to the companys software testing processes and policies

• Retain Audit compliance while supporting end users during their testing cycle.

• Provide daily updates on the development progress in scrum calls.

• Strong internal customer relationships are essential and this position will work with Business Partners internal staff external vendors and system integrators on a daily basis to ensure a high quality code is delivered and the delivered software is highly available scalable and performant.

• Apply GenAI to build automation new products and enhance productivity

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications :

Basic Qualifications:
 2 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree OR 5 years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters MBA JD MD)
- Alternatively more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters MBA).

**Experience Requirements:**
Bachelors degree :
- 1 year of development experience in GoLang C/C Java Python or other functional languages.
- 1 year of experience with SQL and RDBMS.
- (Optional) 1 year of experience with NoSQL DB/Key Value store/Columnar DB.
- 1 year of experience with Distributed Systems.
- Familiarity with the ML stack.
- Familiarity with the GenAI stack.

Masters degree:
Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or closely related field having educational exposure to -
- GoLang C/C Java Python or other functional languages
- SQL and RDBMS
- Distributed Systems
- Algorithms and Data Structure

Common skillset:
Strong analytical skill
Expertise in various data structures and algorithms
Self driven and motivated
Excellent communication skill
Familiarity/experience in following areas is a plus -
1. GenAI/Mahine Learning
2. Electronic Payments

Additional Information :

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk communicate in person and by telephone frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 123000.00 to 173950.00 USD per year which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge skills experience and addition this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
