Job Summary

3 Months Contract with a Local Authority

Summary
  • This role involves managing a caseload of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) coordinating statutory Education Health and Care (EHC) assessments and plans. The position is crucial for ensuring a person-centered approach working collaboratively with families professionals and educational settings to secure positive outcomes and smooth transitions for children and young people.
Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of children and young people undergoing EHC assessments or with existing EHCPs ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
  • Co-produce outcome-focused EHCPs in collaboration with families professionals and educational settings.
  • Lead and attend multi-agency meetings including annual reviews co-production meetings and transition planning.
  • Provide expert advice to schools settings and families on SEND pathways statutory processes and best practices.
Experience
  • Experience working within a Local Authority SEND team or in an educational setting supporting children with SEND (e.g. SENCo teacher social worker).
  • Proven track record of managing statutory SEND processes and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Experience in chairing meetings and drafting EHCPs.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and working with vulnerable children and families.
Qualification
  • Social Work qualification (e.g. DipSW BA/BSc in Social Work) and registration with Social Work England.
  • Knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.

  • Working hours: 36 hours per week
  • Enhanced DBS is required.
