Job Summary:
In this role you will plan develop and review Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work produce drawings and documentation and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients facilitate technical discussions and review and approve drawings calculations and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards.
This position is for a Smart Plant S3 D Designer/Engineer who will prepare 3D designs associated with DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills proven problem-solving abilities can-do attitude and the desire to innovate designs. This role will specifically support the USAF Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase. The GBSD program is the weapon system replacement for the Minuteman III missile systems. Our team is supporting Northrop Grumman and the USAFs nuclear deterrence mission to modernize this ground-based leg of the nuclear triad. This position is responsible for direct production of design work by Bechtel as well as for coordinating the scope and integration of work. #LI-SNH
Major Responsibilities:
Building layout in Smart Plant S3D model environment. Modeling of piping HVAC and equipment in the 3D model environment. Preparation of drawings/documents for floor plans. Assist with coordination of 3D model activities i.e. input interference reconciliation etc. with other physical related disciplines. Interface with stress and pipe support engineers construction and suppliers during the preparation of designs for the purpose of model/space control etc. Perform coordination review of specifications and other documents prepared by others. Candidate should possess a knowledge of OSHA NFPA and piping codes. Hands-on experience using Smart Plant S3D and drawing generation. Knowledge & application of International Building Code ASME B31.3 for piping plumbing codes and ASHRAE standards.
Level 1
Leads or administers work of PD&Pdesigners and drafters for a business line technology to includethe preparation of layouts study drawings detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models andconstruction drawings.
Develops designs for complete and complex PD&Pengineering systems such as earthwork drainage roaddesign foundation and steel detailing with minimumsupervision from which detailed scale models and/orconstruction drawings are completed.
Assists in constructing detailed scale models.
Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned materialrequisitions and bid evaluations.
Monitors and checks work for compliance with approvedPD&P design standards to provide quality designreliable/safe plant operation and construction economy. Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with allapplicable installation codes regulations and standards.
Participates in constructability reviews.
Level 2
Plans develops coordinates and reviews design work within a small-size PD&Pdesign work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of globalbusiness unit.
Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scopeincluding design of earthwork drainage road design foundation and steel detailing. Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codesregulations and standards.
Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of PD&Pengineers scientists specialists designers and drafters.
Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to uppermanagement.
Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client suppliers regulators).
Prepares or oversees the preparation of PD&P design estimates and work plan inaccordance with project scope schedule and budget and manages implementation andperformance accordingly.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Level 1
AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 7-8 years of experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Level 2
AA/AS or Certificate in Engineering/CAD with 10-12 years of experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Hands-on experience using Smart Plant S3D.
Must be able to pass the requirements to receive a secret clearance.
Previous Bechtel project experience. Previous DoD/DoE USACE NAVFAC or USAF experience.
