Brief Overview of type of faculty position we are seeking to fill:

The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for the academic success of students enrolled in a campus-based course in accordance with program and course objectives and course syllabi. Each adjunct instructor should be highly knowledgeable about the subject matter for their assigned course and maintain expertise in the subject area. The adjunct instructor is expected to actively monitor and track individual student progress and provide support and direction as needed both during the class and outside of class as needed and appropriate.

The Department of Psychology at Simmons University seeks adjunct instructors to teach Introduction to Psychological Science (PSYC 101) during the Spring 2026 semester in-person on our Boston campus to begin January 22 2026 and end May 11 2025. All classes will be held in person. Instructors are also expected to be available to meet with students for office hours either through video/zoom calls or in person as needed.

PSYC 101 Introduction to Psychological Science

Surveys contemporary approaches to the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Covers topics from neurons to neuroses including perception memory social interaction personality and mental disorders.

Responsibilities: The adjunct instructor will be responsible for lecturing and leading in weekly class discussions.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree required; Ph.D. preferred.

  • Teaching experience is preferred at either the college or high school level.

Compensation: $6300

In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws effective October 29 2025 Simmons University is committed to pay equity transparency and clear communication throughout the hiring process.
