DescriptionIn accordance with the Mission Vision and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Coordinator of Therapy Programs responsible for unit level therapy programs. This includes assessing developing implementing and evaluating therapy care plans on both an individual and group basis for an assigned number of residents. Provides work direction and delegates work to Rehabilitation Assistants and Rehabilitation Assistant/Drivers.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Graduation from a recognized university program in Physiotherapy. Current practicing full registration with the College of Physical Therapists of BC (CPTBC). Eligible for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA). Minimum two (2) years recent related experience.
Valid BC Drivers License.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively especially the elderly physically and mentally handicapped.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position (lifting and moving residents safely).
