YOUR ROLE

The Disability Education Specialist is a part of the Students with Disability Centre of Expertise within Student Engagement Services (SES) and plays a pivotal role in empowering school leadership teams. They provide expert guidance on inclusive practices drive the implementation of a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) and assist schools meet legislative obligations to support the diverse needs of all studentsparticularly those with disability.

This role can be based from one of MACS four regional offices: Werribee Moonee Ponds Croydon or Moorabbin.

The successful candidate can commence ASAP or in January 2026.



Description

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Guide school leadership teams through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) frameworkscreen respond monitor and improveto strengthen whole-school approaches across learning behaviour and wellbeing (including attendance)
  • Strengthen leadership capacity to implement MACS policies procedures and guidelines in alignment with inclusive school improvement initiatives
  • Design and facilitate targeted professional learning in collaboration with the Inclusive Learning Student Behaviour and Support and Student Health and Wellbeing teams using diverse formats including asynchronous modules webinars and interactive online learning tools
  • Contribute to the development review and refinement of personalised learning plans (PLPs) and associated tools to support individual student needs
  • Guide schools in the accurate implementation of the Nationally Consistent Collection of School Data on Students with Disability (NCCD) with fidelity and moderate and quality assure NCCD evidence.
  • Document school consultations and related recommendations accurately aligning with MACS policies ICT systems and SEU protocols

ABOUT YOU

  • Demonstrated understanding of state and national education policies and legislative obligations relating to students with disability including their application within inclusive schooling environments
  • Proven experience in implementing inclusive teaching practices informed by Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Response to Intervention (RTI) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to address students academic behavioural health and wellbeing needs
  • Extensive experience supporting diverse learning needs through effective use of assessment data to guide the design and delivery of evidence-based interventions and adjustments across domains of learning behaviour and/or wellbeing.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead inclusive practice manage complex conversations work within multidisciplinary teams and adapt communication across diverse contexts
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience in executing the processes and practices required for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) ensuring accurate consistent and compliant reporting

Salary range for this position is $118234 (T2/1) - $138234 (T2/6) per annum plussuperannuation as specified in the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022 and may include additional allowances dependent on qualifications and experience.
