Position Summary
The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for one tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor beginning the fall of 2026. We seek an individual with expertise in criminology and/or criminal justice with an open area of specialization. Candidates must have a PhD in hand by the start date of the appointment; current ABDs are welcome to apply. Applicants degree must be in Criminology Criminal Justice or a closely related social science discipline. Applicants with only a law degree (JD LLM SJD ) will not be considered. We seek an individual committed to excellence in both scholarship and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The teaching load is two courses per semester. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to maintain an active research agenda mentor and supervise students and provide service to the Department University and academic community. The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice housed in the College of Arts & Sciences has a long and distinguished record of nationally recognized scholarship teaching and service offering degrees at the bachelors masters and PhD levels. Its graduate program currently has 24 research active PhD students and its undergraduate program routinely has around 600 majors. The department is one of the oldest in the country with an established interdisciplinary history. Faculty members are involved in a wide array of research funded by major public agencies and private foundations while also working closely with leading state and local criminal justice agencies.
