Together Carta is creating the end-to-end ERP platform for private markets. Traditional ERP solutions dont work for Private Funds. Private capital markets need a comprehensive software solution to replace outdated spreadsheets and fragmented service providers. Cartas software for the Office of the Fund CFO does just that - its a new category of software to make private markets look more like public markets - a connected ERP for private capital.

The Team Youll Work With

You will join our R&D team of learners builders experts and leaders in our Fund Administration group. Our group is building the next generation of software for the venture capital industry. We build software to help new funds launch investors to track analytics and performance for fund accountants operating the books and financial records for investment funds ranging from $100k through billions under management and more. We work on a mix of greenfield opportunities and work informed by metrics.

Carta Fund Administration is redefining venture capital operations. Since 2018 our business has grown faster than any other provider in the space. We work with some of the largest venture capital firms in the world building software to automate managing their investments. As we head deeper into 2025 our goal is to forge the future of how this industry operates and our hammer is engineering. We are building a distributed system that needs to be configurable enough for the most complex of customers. Its responsibilities are wide: money movement an event-based general accounting ledger calculating profit waterfalls rule-based engines for reconciliations and allocations workflow orchestrations investment performance tracking incorporation tooling just to name a few.

TheFinancial Reporting Team is dedicated to building solutions that empower Cartas internal reporting specialists and our clients with accurate timely and flexible reporting. Our work focuses on three key areas:

  • Partnering with internal stakeholders to plan design and iterate on financial reporting features that meet client needs.
  • Enabling our financial reporting team to deliver time-critical outputs by building scalable reliable systems and continuously improving our technical foundation.
  • Innovating on AI-enabled reporting capabilities to provide clients with customizable insight-driven reporting experiences.

Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do often working closely with teams across Fund Admin R&D to solve meaningful problems and deliver impactful results.

About You

Were looking for candidates with years of professional software development experience particularly with Python. Youre someone who:

  • Has strong technical skills and works well across teams youre a trusted partner to other engineering leaders and managers.
  • Thrives in ambiguity you bring ideas to the table and help shape the path forward.
  • Designs and implements systems that are clear maintainable and correct whether theyre greenfield or legacy.
  • Is excited to own work end-to-end: from the first line of code through cohort releases to a full production rollout.
  • Moves fast but knows when to build for the long term.
  • May be passionate about parts of our stack Python Django JavaScript/React TypeScript Postgres gRPC and Kafka. Experience in all is not required but is helpful.

We also look for candidates who are interested in experienced with or curious about

  • Accounting Reporting and Investment Management
  • Finding opportunities to 10X user experiences via AI agents
  • Document data extraction
  • Tax reporting financial reporting and financial auditing
  • Banking and money movement

The Interview Process

Carta follows a standard tech startup interview process where you will meet with a recruiter and hiring manager first. Well then ask you to show off your skills with a real-world take home exercise (we do not do LeetCode-style interviews no one will quiz you on writing a doubly-linked list) and virtual interviews. During the process you can ask questions to people across different parts of the Fund Administration team to learn what kind of work we do and how it lines up with your interests.

Salary

Cartas compensation package includes a market competitive salary equity for all full time roles exceptional benefits and for applicable roles commissions plans. Our expected cash compensation (salary commission if applicable) range for this role is:

  • $142800 - $168000 CAD in Toronto Ontario Canada

We are hiring for multiple levels and locations so final offers may vary from the amounts listed based on geography experience and expertise and other factors.
