Permanent Custodian

The Custodian reporting to the Principal is responsible for providing a safe and clean work environment for staff and students by performing general cleaning and maintenance duties to the school property and grounds. This position is 36.25 hours per week Monday-Friday 3:00 PM to 10:45 PM at St. Michael Catholic Secondary School Stratford. The hourly wage is $25.29 per hour.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate cleaning equipment to remove scraps dirt heavy debris etc.
• Wash windows interior walls and ceilings.
• Empty trash cans and other waste containers.
• Sweep mop scrub and wax hallways floors and stairs.
• Clean snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.
• Tend grounds and plants as required by the Principal.
• Clean and disinfect washrooms lunchrooms and fixtures.
• Move furniture equipment and supplies.
• May perform minor repairs as required.

• Previous custodial and/or cleaning experience is required;
• Previous custodial and/or clearing experience in a school environment is an asset;
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor repairs;
• Ability to work as part of a team;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
• Proficient computer skills are required; experience with Google Workspace is an asset.
