The Bowery Mission is a Christian faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness hunger and poverty. The Bowery Mission meets essential needs and creates transformative community with men women children and families in New York so that we can together overcome homelessness and poverty and flourish.
As a key member of the Development Team the Grants Coordinator helps to raise critical funds necessary to transform lives at The Bowery Mission. Reporting to the Development Officer of Institutional Giving; the Grants Coordinator will help maintain administrative oversight of the grants calendar keeping the team abreast of upcoming proposal and report deadlines. The Grants Coordinator supports the Partnerships Team by overseeing the full calendar of grants developing strong grant proposals and reports and performing prospect research. The Grants Coordinator will also develop new content to best represent the work and impact of The Bowery Mission to funders and external stakeholders. Overseeing a small caseload the Grants Coordinator will help to cultivate and grow funder relationships.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage and monitor all proposal and report deadlines. Ensure all report and proposal deadlines are recorded and monitored in a timely manner using Granthub and Asana paying close attention to the annual revenue budget.
- Develop and improve systems processes and procedures for grants management monitoring and record-keeping.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of foundation caseloads so as to assist with prioritization of upcoming projects and proposals.
- Identify new partnership prospects. Research and identify a minimum of 25 proposal/grant application opportunities annually.
- Fill in necessary forms for the Donor Services team to accurately track Foundation revenue. Reconcile the monthly revenue matrix. Prepare revenue reports as needed.
- Help the Development Officer Institutional Giving liaise between The Bowery Mission and external stakeholders (i.e. foundations churches corporates) across communication platforms.
- In collaboration with content creators work with the Development Officer Institutional Giving to update/rewrite boilerplate to improve content and reflect developments in organizational priorities language and programming.
Schedule: Monday-Friday: 9:00am-5:30pm
Requirements:
- Embraces the organizations Statement of Faith.
- 2years non-profit experience preferred in grant writing.
- Bachelors degree; preference in Journalism English or Business; or equivalent experience in a professional writing capacity.
- Skilled in writing synthesizing and narrativizing.
- High proficiency in Microsoft applications.
- High integrity that builds trust with internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Proficiency with CRM databases grant databases preferred.
Salary commensurate with relevant education & experience: $50000 - $55000 annually.
