ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Supervisor ensures that the organization maintains the ability to deliver products and/or services that consistently meet customer quality and delivery requirements while continuing to improve safety productivity throughput and variable cost. This position supervises leads inspectors and lab personnel in the following areas: Inspection NDT Test Lab Metallurgical Lab and the Gage Room.
- Manage and supervise NDT lab and inspection day to day activities.
- Facilitate flow between manufacturing departments to and through the quality departments to feed daily shipping requirements.
- Ensures procedural and policy adherence along with quality compliance.
- Ability to interpret specification/procedural requirements and translate into decisions.
- Drives improvement in quality levels.
- Ensure that proper resources are allocated to the jobs in queue.
- Manage quality lab supplies and ensure continuous supply of consumables as needed.
- Other duties may be assigned to fulfill position and division objectives.
- Manages quality lab inspection and certification employees.
- Responsible for the overall direction coordination and evaluation of this unit.
- Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems developing team and setting goal plans for growth and development of staff.
- Must be deadline driven with strong bias toward results achievement; flexible with schedule and shifting priorities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree (B. S. or B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have ability to read and understand engineering drawings specifications and process documentation.
- Prior management experience with process improvement knowledge and understanding of total quality management system and tools.
- Strong applicable knowledge of Microsoft Office.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public and strong organizational time management and verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead teams towards established goals and objectives.
