Responsibilities
The University Hospital Medical Intensive Care Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) (Nurse Practitioner NP) provides direct patient care services for critically ill complex patients in an intensive care setting in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Medical ICU attending physicians. The APN performs physical exams collects and documents data conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations prescribes appropriate interventions and medications. Coordinates the care and discharge of patients and provides direct patient care services. The APN contributes to excellence in patient care research teaching and provides leadership to the organization.
Qualifications
Currently licensed as RN in the State of New Jersey and certified as APN by the Board of Nursing. MSN required. Either one (1) year of experience as an APN in a critical care setting required or three (3) years of experience as a RN in a critical care setting required. Experience with neuro patients preferred. BLS and ACLS required. CCRN preferred.
