Class Summary

Job Description
The Animal Control Officer III will assist with new field officer training and provide support to Special Operations Officers while ensuring adequate coverage across all shifts. This position will provide training on enforcing County ordinances regarding stray dangerous nuisance and unwanted domestic animals; proper techniques to capture animals along with cleaning/sanitizing vehicles and animal pens and others as necessary.

Essential Duties

Provide training to new field officers
Maintain training records of field officers
Answer calls for service
Complete/distribute all necessary paperwork and photos from calls
Abide by all governing ordinances
Perform other duties as necessary

Other Job Requirements/Information

This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours weekends and/or holidays.
This job will require a 50-pound lift test

Grade
The grade for this position is B23(3). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Effective 4/11/2023 this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or G.E.D. AND
Three years of animal control enforcement experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
Valid Drivers License
ASP Baton Training
Basic Chemical Capture
Crematory Training
Euthanasia Training
Pre-Exposure Rabies Vaccine or current titer
State Inmate Supervisor training
Defensive Driving Certificate
