Job Summary

Are you passionate about design and creating the best digital experience for our customers and employees If so you might be the experienced UX Designer were looking for at INGs Experience Design Center of Expertise. You will work closely with your design colleagues and the multidisciplinary teams (squads) and areas you help to create innovative experiences across all of INGs platforms and products.

What are you going to do

  • You work on large digital customer journeys through collaboration with one or more multidisciplinary teams consisting of business stakeholders data analysts and developers.
  • You know how to talk to and convince senior stakeholders when it comes to design.
  • You are inquisitive and have a strong interest in business and tech preferably in the financial services area.
  • You represent the voice of the customer in your team(s) and at senior levels.
  • You defend the user centred development of digital concepts and solutions and guard the quality during the delivery process.
  • You design and deliver user centred and user experience artefacts.
  • You initiate and execute research and data collection aimed at a discovering and validating underlying customer insights wants and needs. You test and optimise concept designs and can kill your darlings based on the outcome.
  • You act as well voiced advocate for user experience within your team(s) you increase engagement and business understanding of the value and benefits of design. You communicate research findings conceptual ideas and design rationales clearly.

The Experience Design CoE is the home for all digital designers at ING The Netherlands. At the CoE 47 designers work in 10 Expert Teams led by 1 CoE Lead and 4 Expert Leads. Our offices are in Amsterdam Zuid-Oost.


We are experts in Service design User Experience design Interaction design Visual design Content design User research and Customer Experience. At the Experience Design CoE we are building and developing a high-quality user experience and design practice. We initiate and document best practice design methodology patterns annotations and the creation of high-fidelity design artefacts. Together with the design departments in other ING countries we co-develop and use the global ING design system.

Together with Business and IT we are committed to deliver the best digital experience for todays and tomorrows customer. We design digital customer journeys focused on overview transaction self-service and products/sales. Increasingly we help our customers with financial management and financial health related digital journeys.

What are we looking for

  • You are a graduate of a University (MA)- or University of applied Arts (BA) in a digital design related field.
  • You have at least 5 years of relevant digital design experience.
  • You have a strong and creative digital portfolio with examples of work in both interaction and user experience design and a very convincing story to back it up.
  • You base your designs on data and insights and take a pro-active approach. You ask critical questions always.
  • You have advanced knowledge on design techniques and subjects such as information architecture task-flow models UI specs design specs wireframing prototyping and user-centred design.
  • You have thorough experience in designing for mobile/tablet devices.
  • You know all the relevant ins and outs of designing for accessibility (A11Y) and how to apply this in your daily work.
  • You have broad understanding skill and experience in setting up and conducting user research.
  • You have expert skills and extensive experience in working with design tooling: Figma and Maze are our tools of the trade expert knowledge on these is a requirement. Knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator is a nice to have. We expect you to be curious to know more about the future of design tooling and take an active interest.
  • You are fluent in English (speaking reading and writing).
