The School of Kinesiology at Boise State University invites applications for a full-time 9-month tenure-track Open rank faculty position in Exercise Physiology or a closely related field beginning August 2026. We seek a scholar-educator who will develop a productive research program pursue external funding commensurate with rank provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate instruction and mentor masters and doctoral student research. Primary teaching responsibilities will include Exercise Physiology with additional opportunities to teach in areas such as Exercise Testing and Prescription Physical Activity for Special Populations Strength and Conditioning and/or Sports Nutrition. The successful candidate will also contribute through professional university and community service. This campus-based position requires a 2/2 teaching load (2 3-credit classes per semester with the possibility to buy out of teaching load) and engagement in multiple teaching modalities (in-person hybrid and online) to meet diverse student needs.
The School of Kinesiology employs 20 full-time faculty a team of dedicated adjunct faculty and three professional staff members. Currently the school services over 950 undergraduate and graduate students through undergraduate programs in Kinesiology and K-12 Physical Education and Health graduate programs in Athletic Leadership (MAL) Athletic Training (MAT) Kinesiology (MK and MSKnon thesis and thesis tracks) and a transdisciplinary Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering (a collaboration between Colleges of Engineering and Health Sciences with curriculum tracks in biomechanics human performance and mechanobiology). Further curriculum in Kinesiology supports the neuroscience program in conjunction with biology and psychology that presents additional collaborative opportunities. The Center for Biomechanics and Orthopaedic Research and Human Performance Lab are housed in the School of Kinesiology. Idaho is an NIH IDeA state and Boise State University participates in IDeA programs operating two Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBREs); one in cellular and molecular research and one devoted to development of biomedical addition the state of Idaho also has an INBRE that offers wonderful opportunities for students.

An earned doctorate in Exercise Physiology or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered with the expectation that the doctoral degree will be completed by the start date of the appointment (August 2026).
Established record or demonstrated potential for an active research agenda including publications and presentations.
Established record or demonstrated potential for successful teaching at the college/university level
Prior mentorship of graduate or undergraduate students in research
Postdoctoral research experience and/or demonstrated success with grant writing
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification or the knowledge and willingness to pursue certification

Salary starts at $75000 is dependent upon rank and track and is commensurate with experience.
Our standard faculty contract is a 9-month contract (unless otherwise noted) with pay and benefits spread over 12 months. This is a yearly renewable contract. More information about faculty contract and work days is available here.
