When fully realized ICS in conjunction with local public schools will provide Staten Island parents of special needs children with an array of options which is richer than that enjoyed by any other community in the United States.
Summary
The After-School Peer Leader position is open to Integration Charter Schools (ICS) high school students who want to gain paid work experience while supporting after-school programming. Peer Leaders work alongside ICS staff to assist with activities ensure safety and serve as positive role models for younger students.
Responsibilities
- Support students during after-school activities homework help clubs and trips.
- Model positive behavior and leadership for peers and younger students.
- Assist with set-up clean-up and preparation of program spaces and materials.
- Help maintain a safe inclusive and supportive environment for all participants.
- Provide dismissal support helping guide students safely during transitions and end-of-day procedures.
- Communicate respectfully with students staff and families.
- Attend orientation and trainings as needed.
Competencies & Qualifications
- Current Integration Charter School (ICS) high school student in good academic and behavioral standing.
- Must maintain good academic and behavioral standing.
- Reliable responsible and able to balance school and work commitments.
- Enjoys working with children and supporting the ICS community.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Must be 17 or older
- In good academic standing (maintaining a strong GPA)
- In good cultural standing (in proper uniform at least 90% attendance and in full compliance with the student code of conduct.
Salary
$16.50/hr
