Job Summary

Columbia University School of Professional Studies seeks industry professionals for the role of adjunct lecturer to develop and teach Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Technology Leaders a core course in the schools M.S. in Technology Management program.

The program provides technology professionals at all stages of their careers - from recent graduates to more seasoned professionals - with the key strategic and tactical skills necessary to drive enhanced organizational performance and innovation through the use of technology and to become leaders in the field. Generative AI marks a defining technological shift with far-reaching consequences for the global economy and contemporary society. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Technology Leaders examines the decades-long evolution of artificial intelligence and machine learning highlighting their rise as both an economic driver and a strategic imperative. Students will explore AIs potential to transform industries expand organizational capabilities and surface complex challenges around security identity and ethics.

In todays rapidly changing landscape both established enterprises and governments must adapt quickly to the disruption and transformation AI brings. This course equips students with the critical knowledge to navigate the catalysts of this technological surge understand its foundational principles and develop the leadership mindset required to thrive in the AI era.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in-person and/or online class lectures instructional activities and classroom discussion

  • Evaluate student work and grade assignments

  • Monitor student concerns and inquiries and be the first point of contact for student questions

  • Hold weekly office hours

  • Prepare maintain and enhance the course in Canvas Columbia Universitys learning management system for onsite and online courses

  • Parttime Lecturers who are new to SPS must complete Canvas training (online learning management system)

  • Attend Technology Management faculty meetings

Serving as an adjunct lecturer provides an outstanding opportunity to educate and mentor students in the field of technology management as well as to form a rewarding professional relationship with Columbia Universitys world-class faculty.


Qualifications :

Columbia University SPS operates under a scholar-practitioner faculty model which enables students to learn from faculty that have outstanding academic training as well as a record of accomplishment as practitioners in an applied industry setting. 

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in IT (e.g. computer science software engineering AI) business management finance or other related disciplines

  • Significant leadership roles with major corporations or consulting industry related to Technology Management focused on Digital Transformation and recent AI integration

  • Strong communication and problem solving skills and an ability to multi-task

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • A terminal degree in one of the above mentioned disciplines

  • 2 years graduate-level university teaching experience


Additional Information :

Compensation - $10000 - $15000 per semester-length course.
