Department/Unit Summary
TheEmergency Departmentat Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication essential for providing specialized care to critically ill patients. The ER has 22 beds 7 bay fast track unit operates within a trauma III hospital setting ensuring patients receive optimal medical attention and support. The Emergency Department has been recognized company wide as a consistent top performer. The ED staff works in a team environment. The ER welcomes many area college and physician resident students in the department.

Job Summary:
- Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Education:
- Associates Degree in Nursing Required; Bachelors Degree in Nursing Preferred
License:
- Current RN to practice in the state of Kentucky or a current multistate license
Certifications:
- ACLS BCLS PALS; NIHSS within 90 days of hire
Required Skills
- Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Computer proficiency required.
Essential Functions
- Performs plan of care intervention including medication administration specimen collection clinical treatments as well as other medical care treatment.
- Documents patient care given.
- Monitors records and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team physician patient and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living including personal hygiene elimination nutrition and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care including patient transfer discharge referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age culture condition and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
