The Manager of Security Employee & Patient Safety oversees security operations for the Department of Public Health (DPH) ensuring a safe environment for employees patients and visitors. This role assists with the development and implementation of security policies coordinates with law enforcement and emergency responders manages risk assessments and leads responses to security incidents. The Manager also directs the administration of security systems and technologies and promotes a proactive culture of safety throughout the organization.
The Manager of Security Employee & Patient Safety (0923 Manager II) performs the following essential job functions:
- Develops implements and enforces security policies procedures and protocols for assigned facilities including Laguna Honda Hospital Ambulatory Care (Whole Person Integrated Care program) and twenty Behavioral Health and combined health clinic sites. Collaborates closely with site administration and leadership to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and operational needs.
- Conducts risk assessments and site evaluations to identify security vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Coordinates security measures across all public health facilities including clinics administrative offices and emergency response locations to ensure consistent protection of employees patients and visitors.
- Leads investigations into security incidents workplace violence and breaches of safety protocols at assigned sites including intake and follow-up on complaints related to security concerns.
- Manages and monitors security technologies including surveillance cameras access control systems and alarm systems ensuring systems are functioning effectively and updated as needed.
- Maintains and sustains working partnerships with the City and County of San Franciscos Sheriffs Office the San Francisco Police Department and other law enforcement agencies to support effective engagement in complex hospital environments. Establishes and maintains Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) or letters of agreement as needed to codify working relationships.
- Ensures compliance with local state and federal regulations related to security and safety.
- Project manages the implementation of electronic security systems and technology integration for all DPH facilities.
The Manager of Security Employee & Patient Safety (0923 Manager II) may perform other duties as assigned/required.
Qualifications :
1. Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university; AND
2. Experience: Four (4) years of professional experience overseeing security operations within a healthcare or government setting including electronic security systems.
EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Additional professional experience as described above may substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis.

One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2000 hours (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week).
