Overview
As our Mechanical Engineer Intern youll collaborate with our Mechanical Engineering team on a variety of systems and component design projects. Youll gain hands-on experience applying engineering principles using design software and contributing to projects that directly impact our manufacturing processes.
What Youll Do
- Apply engineering principles to develop 3D models and create detailed build drawings for the manufacturing team
- Interpret project requirements and incorporate lessons learned from previous designs into new projects
- Perform basic calculations to validate designs
- Apply fits tolerances and design notes (e.g. shafts bearings welding) to subcomponents
- Participate in project turnover and design review meetings
- Enter Bills of Material (BOMs) into Syteline ERP system
What Youll Learn
- Core engineering principles in real-world applications
- The importance of accuracy in designs provided to manufacturing and customers
- Collaboration skills through cross-department communication during design-to-build phases
- Professional communication skills (oral and written) through project feedback and reporting
- Time management accountability and adaptability to meet project deadlines
Technical Skills and Requirements
- Sophomore or Junior pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field
- Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D/3D; Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks a plus
- Introductory experience with 3D modeling and simulation (stress/motion analysis)
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings to industry standards (ASME ISO)
- Foundational knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods
