Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
Responsible for general supervision of Sleep Center clinical operations and staff in coordination Manager of Sleep & DME services. Able to perform all duties of Registered Polysomnographer/ Sleep Technologist and clerical office staff as needed.
Essential Job Functions
Ensures proper maintenance calibration trouble shooting and repair of study acquisition equipment computer hardware and application software in coordination with supporting IT & BioMed departments and vendor customer service. Maintains proper logs of equipment repair / replacement.
Performs sleep study scoring quality assurance evaluation and sleep study results reporting.
Assists with physician office relations including staff & physician education and communication.
Oversees the training and orientation of new employees sleep tech trainees and sleep staff upon implementation of new equipment or software.
Facilitates multidirectional communication between day staff night staff and management.
Assists with interdepartmental communication and problem resolution.
Reviews direct sleep study orders and documentation for medical necessity in compliance with government and private insurer guidelines. Assists with preauthorization and facilitates peer to peer review as needed.
Assists management with timekeeping inventory performance improvement & policy implementation education billing marketing compliance accreditation safety and infection control as needed.
Performs all duties of RPSGT and clerical staff as needed.
Completes all required continuing education in compliance with credentialing body sleep center and hospital accrediting bodies and BSMH policy.
Performs other tasks deemed necessary by manager to facilitate customer service or business operations including shift work schedule department or location change.
Maintains positive relationships with customers coworkers and others.
Attends meetings as needed.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.
Required Minimum Education:
Vocational/ Technical Degree
Specialty/Major: Sleep Respiratory Therapy EEG or other clinical healthcare field.
Preferred Education:
4 year/ Bachelors Degree
Specialty/Major:
Sleep Medicine Respiratory Therapy with a Sleep Medicine Certification other clinical healthcare field with Sleep certification.
Licensure/Certification Required:
RPSGT RST RRT / CRT with SDS or CPSGT; BLS Certification
Minimum Years and Type of Experience Preferred:
5 years direct patient care in an accredited Sleep Center
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:
Must be able to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Must demonstrate social skills good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy. Must be able to work independently and problem solve with minimal guidance and supervision.
Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities Preferred:
Prior supervisory experience and / or medical office management experience.
