Compensation

Tiny Fins Survival Swim is looking for a talented Survival Swim Instructor to join the team part-time. Because this position has room for advancement and Tiny Fins Survival Swim is prepared to employ applicants with less experience compensation may vary and will be determined at a later stage in the hiring process.

Job Description

As a Survival Swim Instructor at Tiny Fins youll play a life-changing role in teaching children the water safety skills they need to thrive. Our approach is gentle engaging and empowering ensuring every child builds confidence in the water while learning essential survival techniques. Our Instructors work one-on-one with students in fun fast-paced 15-minute lessons following our proven curriculum. With comprehensive hands-on training they are fully equipped to help little swimmers succeed while building strong connections with their families.

Minimum Requirements

  • Passion for child development and water safety with a strong desire to teach young children.
  • Basic swimming proficiency with the ability to demonstrate water safety techniques.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification (Infant Child & Adult) (or ability to obtain before start date).
  • Ability to complete 6-7 weeks of hands-on training in the Tiny Fins survival swim curriculum.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with parents and children.
  • Patience and a positive attitude with the ability to encourage and motivate young swimmers.
  • Ability to work in warm water for extended periods and assist children in the pool.
  • Reliable and punctualmust be able to arrive 15 minutes before lessons and commit to scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with back-to-back lessons.
  • Preferred but Not Required: Lifeguard certification
  • Preferred but Not Required: Background in swimming instruction coaching or aquatics.
  • Preferred but Not Required: Previous experience working with children (teaching coaching childcare or related fields).
Essential Job Duties

The ideal candidate is capable motivated and willing to learn and grow as the position evolves. As a Survival Swim Instructor you must be able to:

  • Deliver One-on-One Lessons: Teach children individualized survival swim techniques using the Tiny Fins curriculum.
  • Ensure Student Progress: Monitor and assess each childs skill development making adjustments as needed.
  • Engage and Encourage: Create a positive and motivating environment for young swimmers.
  • Communicate with Parents: Provide clear encouraging feedback to parents about their childs progress.
  • Prepare for Each Lesson: Arrive early to set up review schedules and maintain a professional presence.
  • Maintain Safety Standards: Follow CPR First Aid and water safety protocols at all times.
  • Adhere to Professional Standards: Maintain the Tiny Fins dress code uphold lesson consistency and demonstrate strong classroom management skills in the water.

Working Conditions

  • Physical Environment
    • Work is conducted in an indoor aquatic facility with warm water pools designed for survival swim instruction. Exposure to humidity chlorinated water and wet surfaces is common. Frequent standing walking on pool decks bending and lifting (such as assisting young swimmers) is required.
  • Physical Demands
    • Requires prolonged periods in the water including demonstrating swimming techniques. Must have the ability to lift and support children in the water safely. Engaging with multiple students back-to-back requires stamina and energy.
  • Schedule & Work Hours
    • Lessons are 15 minutes long and run back-to-back with short transition periods. Typically scheduled during morning and afternoon hours depending on class demand. Punctuality is essentialarriving at least 15 minutes early is required to prepare for lessons.
  • Workplace Atmosphere
    • Fast-paced and highly interactiverequires strong communication with students parents and team members. Emphasis on positive reinforcement patience and encouragement to create a comfortable learning environment for children. Instructors are expected to maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Instructors must follow all Tiny Fins safety protocols and ensure a secure environment for children. Adherence to CPR First Aid and lifeguard safety standards is essential. Occasional staff training sessions or in-service training may be required to maintain teaching consistency and safety compliance.
