In this full-time permanent role based in Mount Isa youll play a key role in our Family and Youth Services team reporting to the Team Leader.

You will make a difference by:

  • Providing support to young people who are not supported by protective factors (families friends communities school and cultural connections) to enable them to lead safe healthy and active lives
  • Supporting young people who are at risk of entering the Youth Justice System
  • Providing a culturally responsive service by embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into the design delivery and evaluation of your programs and services

Youre a committed youth worker who has a passion for assisting young people to reach their full potential by ensuring their voice is central to goal setting and redirecting them from the Youth Justice system.

This role requires:

  • Demonstrated skills and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people young people disengaged with the school system young people in contact with the justice system and those who have experienced trauma
  • Demonstrated experience in youth work / case management roles (or relevant placements if youre a recent grad)
  • An understanding of complex intergenerational trauma
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • An understanding of child protection concerns and commitment to responding safely and effectively
