Job Summary

Location - Atlanta GA 30308 Duration - 5 Months Client - Southern Company Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Power BI Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building executive dashboards and reports from scratch writing DAX and M queries and integrating data from multiple sources.

This role requires a strong analytical mindset excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into impactful data visualizations that drive insight and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Design develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather interpret and refine business requirements.
Build and optimize data models and write DAX/M queries to meet reporting needs.
Ensure optimal performance usability and data refresh reliability for all dashboards.
Integrate data from multiple sources including Excel SharePoint SQL Server and cloud-based systems.
Implement row-level security manage workspace permissions and maintain governance standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve data refresh or visualization issues in Power BI.
Document data models report logic and design standards for scalability and maintenance.

Required Qualifications

Proven experience with Power BI Desktop Power BI Service and Power Query.
Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and M (Power Query Formula Language).
Experience building dashboards and reports from scratch.
Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (star schema normalization relationships).
Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver within deadlines.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to following reporting standards.

Preferred Qualifications

1 3 years of hands-on experience with Power BI in a professional setting.
Experience using SQL Server Excel and SharePoint as data sources.
Ability to design user-friendly dashboards for operations finance or customer service teams.
Familiarity with Power Automate and Power Apps.
Background in business analysis or data analytics.
Experience integrating dashboards into web portals or internal tools.
Ability to handle large datasets using aggregations or incremental refresh for performance optimization.
Demonstrated ability to train end-users and create dashboard documentation.
Ability to communicate complex data insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus Criteria

Portfolio showcasing past Power BI dashboards or reports.
Relevant Power BI certifications (e.g. Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).
Familiarity with utility industry data such as energy usage outage tracking or customer metrics.
Experience with GIS data and mapping visualizations in Power BI.
