Job Summary
Job Title: Certified Coding Specialist (Temporary Assignment CalOptima)
Location: 505 City Parkway West California
Work Type: Temporary Full-Time Onsite
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Pay Range: $27.98 $43.37 per hour (based on experience)
Contract Duration: 6 months
Aroha Technologies is hiring on behalf of CalOptima for a Certified Coding Specialist to join their Coding Initiatives team. This temporary assignment offers an opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven community-focused organization dedicated to member health and excellence in service.
- Apply ICD-10-CM/PCS CPT and HCPCS coding accurately according to regulatory standards.
- Support MS-DRG APR-DRG and Medi-Cal coding assignments and chart auditing.
- Review medical documentation to ensure coding accuracy and compliance.
- Identify and address questionable billing practices.
- Provide training and guidance to providers on coding and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders on coding audits and claims analysis.
- Bachelors degree in Public Health Health Services or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with ICD-10 CM/PCS CPT and HCPCS coding systems.
- Experience with Medicare and Medi-Cal coding requirements preferred.
- Familiarity with MS-DRG APR-DRG and Medi-Cal chart auditing strongly preferred.
- Current certification required:
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) AHIMA
- OR Certified Coding Specialist Physician-based (CCS-P) AHIMA
- OR Certified Professional Coder (CPC) AAPC
- Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication and documentation review skills.
- Commitment to ethical coding practices and compliance with AHIMA/AAPC standards.
