Job Summary

The incumbent is responsible for providing group psychotherapy on inpatient units residential and/or partial hospital programs along with providing individual therapy which focuses on the application and acquisition of skills addressed in groups. Provided groups will fit within the following frameworks: 1) educational 2) social interaction 3) community-making. They will work with the specific units Inpatient Group Coordinator to facilitate group experiences and support the needs of the identified client population. Additionally they are encouraged to participate in other hospital activities including as time allows committees teaching training and research.

Essential Functions
-Provides group and/or individual therapy to clients as assigned. Interventions should be structured appropriately for the specific clientele being served. Therapist will be responsible for both set-ups before and clean-up after the group occurs.
-Provides support to the Group Therapy Coordinator in the assessment evaluation and development of the group therapy program on the unit.
-The therapist provides a non-judgmental environment in which clients can process and verbalize personal insight and awareness of their issues.
-Documents inpatient hospital group forms within established time parameters and in accordance with hospital procedures.
-Provides consultation and evaluation to clinical teams and other units based on specific areas of expertise/training.
-Alerts appropriate staff (e.g. Nurse Director Medical and/or Clinical Director Treatment Teams) of emergent clinical issues that occur during group sessions.
-Reviews and contributes to the specified programs Group Resources Manual which details group descriptions goals methods and resources.
-Follows all established group therapy protocols.
-Maintains contact with other clinical staff and unit leadership through participation in rounds staff meetings multi-disciplinary meetings treatment planning meetings and other meetings as necessary.
-Reports to identified program lead as appropriate for supervision and performance review.

Education
Bachelors Degree Related Field of Study required and Masters Degree Related Field of Study required

Licenses and Credentials
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker LICSW - MA preferred

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist MA preferred

Occupational Therapist MA preferred

Counselor Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor - LADC - MA preferred

Licensed Mental Health Counselor LMHC - MA preferred

Psychologist MA preferred

Experience
Group and individual therapy experience 1-2 years required

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Candidates should be organized timely and possess good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively within a multi-disciplined team.
- Ability to set and maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Experience with empirically supported/validated group therapy skills (i.e. CBT ACT MI DBT) is preferred.
- Familiarity with hospital/partial-hospital or community-based treatment programs.
- Active interest in clinical care issues related to inpatient psychiatric treatment.
- Successful candidates must possess basic computer skills in order to use a variety of electronic systems (including Microsoft Office) to access/maintain personal employment-related data satisfy required annual training use job-specific applications and complete documentation using the electronic medical record (experience with the Epic platform preferred).
