Job Summary
What Youll Do:
The General Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day and monthly accounting operations of the organization. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data through timely processing of transactions reconciliations and reporting. The General Accountant also assists with continuous improvement of accounting processes. More specifically:
Accounts Payable Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly review and approve all accounts payable (AP) invoices ensuring accuracy proper allocation to GL codes or 3-way match.
- Prepare AP aging reports with comprehensive payment documentation for Controller review.
- Ensure all payments are made punctually via check or ACH.
- Manage vendor setup and approvals.
- Monitor vendor accounts to ensure up-to-date payments and resolve any discrepancies or inquiries.
- Assist with month-end accruals and reconciliation of AP sub-ledgers to the general ledger.
- Maintain organized filing systems for financial documents.
Accounts Receivable Responsibilities:
- Prepare and send invoices to customers.
- Prepare and post customer deductions credit notes and payments.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Ensure receivables are collected in a timely matter while maintaining good relationships.
- Maintain an accurate aging report.
- Follow up with customers on overdue accounts and escalate collection issues as necessary.
- Prepare and reconcile AR sub-ledger to the general ledger at month-end.
- Assist in cash flow forecasting and reporting of AR collection trends.
Qualifications :
Qualifications:
- Diploma or bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience in a similar role.
- Experience supporting month-end and year-end closing processes is an asset.
- Microsoft Great Plains experience is required.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience is preferred.
- Strong data entry skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of financial services accounting principles and experience with general ledger.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Exceptional analytical skills problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills Required:
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Fluency in Excel Spreadsheets.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all financial transactions.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Previous experience working in a food manufacturing facility is an asset.
- Excellent Verbal and Written English are a requirement of this position.
- Ability to stay motivated and keep a positive attitude.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada and provide this proof if provided an offer of employment.

60 65K depending on experience
