The School of Architecture and Built Environment of Tulane University seeks an individual to serve as an adjunct responsible for leading workshops and assisting the day-to-day operations of the Architecture Wood Shop. This position will be responsible for highly skilled shop work and other technical duties in support of coursework necessitating use of the shop and other fabrication addition to this position there will be several experienced and trained student shop workers scheduled to supervise the use of the shop. This position will assist and advise students with the setup and use of equipment appropriate to their fabrication needs. This position will be responsible for ensuring that all users of the shop adhere to appropriate safety standards and respond to any incidents following shop and university protocols. This position will work closely with the Fabrication Labs Manager and Director of Fabrication.
Schedule
This role supports woodshop operations for 15-18 hours per week primarily during weekday evenings and weekends. The proposed schedule is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3pm 8pm and Sundays from 1pm 6pm.
Individuals should possess an advanced degree in the discipline in which they will teach or have at least 3 years of construction experience or wood shop management experience. Previous experience with shop tool operation and management is required. This position requires the ability to lift pull carry push and move 50lbs and the ability to perform tasks involving acute concentration/eye-hand coordination. It is preferred but not required that candidates have experience with architectural model building installation fabrication and are CPR and First Aid certified.
