Job Summary

As a Class 1 Local Pick-up & Delivery Driver you will be responsible for:

 

  • Completing local deliveries and pick-ups within Red Deer and the surrounding area in a timely and efficient manner
  • Conducting thorough pre and post-trip inspections of the assigned vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with DOT regulations
  • Performing routine maintenance checks and reporting any vehicle issues to the maintenance department
  • Accurately loading and unloading freight ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo
  • Operating material handling equipment such as forklifts pallet jacks and hand trucks when necessary
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date logs of driving hours mileage and delivery records
  • Assisting with dock work including sorting labeling and organizing shipments
  • Providing excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients and addressing any concerns or special requests
  • Adhering to all company policies safety procedures and traffic laws
  • Maintaining a clean and organized vehicle interior and exterior
  • Collaborating with dispatch and other team members to optimize routes and delivery schedules
  • Participating in ongoing safety training and professional development programs
  • Demonstrating flexibility in availability to accommodate occasional schedule changes or additional shifts as required

 

A normal work week will be Monday to Friday with a start time of 4 AM; however some flexibility in availability will occasionally be required to meet business needs and customer expectations.


Qualifications :

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class 1 license with a clean driving record
  • Minimum of 1 year of Class 1 driving experience
  • Physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Reliable and dependable with excellent time management skills
  • TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) certification
  • WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) certification
  • Forklift certification (preferred)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in using GPS navigation systems and mobile devices
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle inspections
  • Flexibility to work occasional overtime or weekends as needed
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to provide a criminal record check drivers abstract and 2 work-related references
