Job Summary

The Office of Student Affairs at Walden University seeks currently enrolled Walden masters or doctoral level students for the 10-hour per week position of Graduate Assistant-Verification Assistant. The Verification Assistant role will represent the University during virtual appointments with students for the purpose of collecting verification documents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role the Verification Assistant will:

  • Represent the University while on-camera during video-call appointments with students.
  • Determine availability on a weekly basis to offer and commit to multiple appointment timeslots throughout the week including some evenings and/or weekends to best serve the needs of a global student body.
  • Meet with assigned students via scheduled Zoom appointment to conduct verification and document collection.  
  • Analyze student questions as needed and determine the appropriate support resources or department referrals such as Student Success Advising Technical Support Financial Aid.
  • Attend periodic team meetings led by the Verification Manager during business hours.
  • Commit approximately 40 hours per month (10 hours per week) to this role.

  • Excellent customer service skills and professionalism.
  • Responsiveness to ongoing team and individual communications.
  • Interpersonal skills to make positive connections with students from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Excellent problem-solving attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential documentation preferred.
  • Access to a private workspace free from distractions with reliable internet.
  • Willingness to be on-camera for the duration of each Zoom call while in professional attire or a Walden-branded shirt (to be provided).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word Excel PowerPoint Teams and Outlook) and Zoom.
  • Equipment will be provided.

Qualifications :

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be a current active Walden masters or doctoral student (criminal justice program preferred) with at least three quarters or two semesters of enrollment.
  • Must be in good academic standing with the university with 3.5 GPA and no holds on student account.
  • Must demonstrate that she/he can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation using some other combination of skills and abilities.
