Responsible and accountable for all activities of nursing personnel in the clinic
1. Coordinates the development implementation and evaluation of nursing regimes for patients and works collaboratively with all members of the clinic staff to facilitate the best possible patient care
2. Maintains a harmonious relationship with the Unit Supervisor in order to ensure a smoothly functioning administrative unit
3. Utilizes his/her professional knowledge judgment and experience to meet the needs of patients in his/her clinic
4. Communicates patients needs and progress as seen by nursing staff to all members of the clinic staff
5. Orients new nursing staff to the medical and nursing aspects of the program and clinic routines
6. Assures adequate maintenance of nursing equipment and supplies in the clinic
7. Contributes toward maintenance of a professional setting that allows for growth and development of patient and staff
8. Identifies areas for patient education
9. Contributes to the maintenance of a clinic environment which is free of physical hazards
10. Identifies and responds appropriately to other medical emergencies
11. Verbalizes knowledge of location and use of emergency equipment and appropriate actions as outlined in the fire and disaster plan
12. Initiates and carries out interventions in the event of cardiopulmonary arrest in accordance with established procedures
13. Maintains confidentiality of patient information consistent with program policy and all applicable Federal requirements
14. Supervises and evaluates nursing staff performance periodically
15. Controls and ensures the security of all aspects of the medication process
16. Supervises the nursing staff in the maintenance of complete and accurate patient care and narcotic records
17. Periodically reviews patient and narcotic records to ensure that they are accurate and up to date
Is a graduate of an accredited program of nursing education. Has or is working toward a baccalaureate degree in nursing.
A minimum of one year experience with drug dependent patients and/or in a psychiatric community mental health center.
