SUMMARY: The SML Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of SML Coordinators or Analysts. This individual acts as a team lead oversees the clerical support analysis and research tasks and reviews reports compiled for Supply Chain Materials Management and/or Logistics.
REPRESENTATIVE ACTIVITIES: Activities and duties will vary dependent upon functional area assigned. Activities may include but are not limited to:
Employee Development & Management
- Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of the team and responsible for team leadership and tasks such as: attendance/vacation schedule claims training coaching and development.
- Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors.
- Monitor and evaluate team members and adjust training where needed.
- Attract retain and develop high potential talent.
- Model and promote the Corporations Code of Business Ethics and Values.
- Perform general management duties exercising usual authority concerning staff performance appraisals promotions and terminations. Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff estimating personnel needs assigning work meeting completion dates interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.
- Act as a team role model and change-agent.
- Positively lead and influence team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals.
- Coordinate team efforts create and manage a regional strategy and team operating plan.
Operations
- Oversee that materials are received stored shipped and reported in accordance with established procedures.
- Furnish reports as needed to forecast estimates and schedules related to inventory distribution transportation and/or production.
- Review effectiveness of operating procedures maintenance space utilization and protection of equipment.
- Support assist and complete analyses; analyze information for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure supervised department meets daily/annual goals. Assess and suggest new procedures and processes to increase efficiency.
- Work with other functions to identify opportunities to improve the process effectiveness and improvement plan.
- Perform various activities to backup and maintain the flow of work in the department. Ensure staff is focused on process improvement.
- Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of the team and responsible for team leadership and tasks such as: attendance/vacation schedule claims training coaching and development.
- Communicate implement and interpret Supply Chain Materials Management and Logistics policies and procedures.
- Develop recommend and coordinate the implementation of new procedures.
- Proactively communicate supply chain issues and provide alternatives.
- Maintain high levels of communication within team.
- Ensure maintenance of equipment and a safe clean environment.
- Partner with Operations to achieve production goals.
- Actively participate in training to expand technical skills and improve services provided.
- Schedule and organize personnel to accommodate anticipated workflow.
- Provides technical guidance to employees colleagues and/or customers.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations.
- Typically does not spend more than 20% of time performing the work supervised. Meets the minimum requirements of executive exemption under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors Degree in Logistics Business or related field.
- 4 years SML or related experience. Supervisory or Lead experience preferred.
- Proficient understanding of the fundamental concepts practices and procedures of Supply Chain Materials Management and Logistics and all related focus areas.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Understanding of applicable computer systems such as Microsoft Office Lotus Notes and function specific software.
- Excellent oral written communication and presentation skills.
- Good project management and business partnering skills.
- Possess effective supervisory skills.
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations.
- Green Belt certification preferred.
- Either new to the role or assigned to a smaller or less complex team.
- Accomplishes tasks mainly through direct supervision of nonexempt and entry level exempt employees.
